T3G Completes Third Round of Financing and Secures Motorola as New Investor

Joint venture expands investor portfolio as TD-SCDMA is poised for promising potential

( Beijing, January 31, 2005, ) T3G Technology Co., Ltd. today announced the successful closing of its 3 rd round of financing and has secured Motorola as a new investor. In addition to its already prominent line-up of big telecom companies ¨C Philips, Datang and Samsung ¨C as its investors and partners, another world leader in mobile communication has partnered with T3G. Motorola, through its corporate venture arm, Motorola Ventures, has made a significant investment in the company and will support the design and development of TD-SCDMA chipsets for hand phones. This new investment will enable T3G to bolster its position as a leading supplier of chipset solutions for powerful 3G TD-SCDMA cellular phones. With two of the world's top three mobile phone manufacturers, Samsung and Motorola as its shareholders, T3G enjoys a great competitive advantage.

T3G CEO Mr. Johan Pross said: ¡± The addition of Motorola, together with the renewed support of current partners, will ensure commercialisation of T3G's technology. Together with these very strong industrial partners, T3G will achieve the breakthrough in 2005 for the implementation of the Chinese 3G standard and achieve comparable maturity as W-CDMA and CDMA 2000. When this maturity phase is reached domestic players will have fewer problems joining the business chain of TD-SCDMA and creating a multi-vendor environment essential for real business success of TD-SCDMA.¡±

T3G Chairman, CEO of Datang Mobile Mr. Tang Ru'an said, ¡°T3G's successful financing not only proves T3G's shareholders and the new investor's confidence in its capabilities to maintain the leading market position in TD-SCDMA terminal chipset solutions, also shows their confidence in the bright prospects of the TD-SCDMA market. This new success in financing will ensure the growth of T3G and also speed up the time-to-market of its competitive TD-SCDMA commercial terminal chipsets. ¡±

Mr. Thierry Laurent, executive vice president, business development communications businesses of Philips Semiconductors said: ¡°This is a team of companies who are among the best in the world in this market. We are confident that our commitment to the Chinese standard, TD-SCDMA, will enable us to bring one of the most advanced 3G solutions to market soon.¡±

Mr. Jongkyun Shin, Senior Vice President, Mobile R&D Team of Samsung Electronics said, ¡° Since the initial Partners have set up T3G, Samsung has been committing itself to commercializing TD-SCDMA technology. And, I believe this third round of financing will further support T3G in leading TD-SCDMA realization. ¡±

Mr. Matthew Insley Growney, Managing Director of Motorola Ventures, said: ¡°As one of Motorola Ventures' first direct investments in China, we believe that T3G will be instrumental in bringing 3G TD-SCDMA into wide scale commercial deployment. As an important part of the joint venture, Motorola will dedicate our superior R&D and manufacturing capabilities to produce the best TD-SCDMA handsets and chipsets. I'm sure that this alliance of global telecom giants, T3G will make TD-SCDMA a success in China.¡± Motorola is a member of the TD-SCDMA Committee in China. Upon invitation from the Ministry of Information Industry, Motorola has participated in developing TD-SCDMA standards from the beginning.

T3G has recently achieved the first whole system level TDD-LCR L1/L2/L3 voice call on their TD-SCDMA Modem chip and has successfully realized the world's first 128kbps packet data transmission on its commercial chipset platform designed for TD-SCDMA handsets. As a landmark in the industrialization of TD-SCDMA, it provides an additional incentive for telecom providers to upgrade their network from 2G/2.5G to 3G.

On December 9, 2004, the world's first TD-SCDMA overseas call was made to the visiting Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao in Philips headquarters in the Netherlands from the Datang's lab in Beijing. The call was made using a Samsung TD-SCDMA handset based on T3G's total chipset solution, a clear demonstration of T3G's commitment to cutting-edge commercial TD-SCDMA chipset solution and its accomplishment resulting from excellent partnership.
